First registered in 1989 New Witheven is registered for Learning Disabilities in the 18-65 age group. It is run by the owners Denzil & Gill Phillips. The home is set in the countryside and is a large bungalow which is wheelchair accessible. A purpose built extension was finished in early 2006 finished to a very high standard with a lot of thought given to insulation and safety. The rooms comprise of a full ensuite bathroom or shower room in every room; all the new rooms have under floor heating and have bright colour schemes. The environment is based on a family home. A wide range of disabilities are catered for and a high priority is given to staff improvement. Staffing levels are high and commensurate with the service users needs, providing a safe stimulating and comfortable environment. Frequent visits to various towns, and transport provided to various clubs and social events gives the service user a feeling of independence and stimulates interest in the local area and promotes integration in to the local society. Denzil and Gill live on site and have 24 hour staffing including waking nights. They offer a Day Service in purpose built buildings where independent living is encouraged and service users are encouraged to build on existing skills through hobby based projects and team based activities. There is at present a vacancy for either respite or residential care.
